Deactivate the Ad-Free Meta Subscription & Less-personalized Ads for Instagram

In order to run ads on Instagram, the Instagram profile must be set to “use for free with ads.”

Updated today

Ad-Free Meta Subscription

Instagram offers users the option to subscribe to an ad-free experience. However, this results in ads no longer being able to be run through the Instagram profile. A requirement for running ads is therefore that Instagram is used “for free with ads.”

⚠️ To run ads on Instagram, the profile must be set to “use for free with ads.”

Less-personalized Ads

If this option is active, Meta uses less personal data to deliver ads — such as interests and usage behavior. As a result, campaigns may not be published or may underperform. In some cases, boosting posts can also be affected.

⚠️ Please make sure "Personalized ads" is turned on so your campaigns run smoothly.

The steps below apply to both the app and the browser.
